Spanish Mackerel 巴当鲛鱼
Spanish Mackerel (Batang) from Pontian has a hint of sweet taste in its savoury flavour that is unique and cannot be found elsewhere. Spanish Mackerel is often associated and confused with Korean Seerfish (Tat Pan) and Spotted Spanish Mackerel (Tenggiri). Despite similar appearances, their taste and flavours can be differentiated. Unlike the other two, Spanish Mackerel is meaty and has a medium-firm texture. It is commonly used to make or sliced for making fish soup.
